Sean Beavers is a former fourth and fifth grade math, science, and language arts teacher with an insatiable passion for technology ever since he laid his hands on an Apple IIe. Currently, he works for SOITA (which stands for Southwestern Ohio Instructional Technology Association) as their technical consultant. In this capacity he is responsible for developing highly successful professional development opportunities for educators far and wide. In addition, Sean is a Google Apps for Education Certified Trainer, co-host of The State of Tech podcast, and first and foremost a husband, father, and geek.
Tanya Avrith is a passionate Educator. Her strength in the classroom has been improving student motivation by facilitating access to the tools they already have at their disposal. Tanya is a former high school teacher who currently works for the Lester B. Pearson School Board in Montreal, Quebec as an itinerant educational technology and digital citizenship teacher. Tanya was one of the driving forces behind the development of the Digital Citizenship Program for the Lester B. Pearson School Board. Tanya also works as a presenter for McGill University’s distinguished educator seminars providing workshops to teachers from across Canada on digital citizenship education and adapting teaching to include various tools to improve student learning. In October, Tanya will be attending the Google Teacher Academy in NYC. Tanya holds a Masters Degree in Educational Technology from Concordia University.
Matt Moran teaches Science and Technology at Dwight School, a preK-12 International Baccalaureate World School in New York City. At Dwight, Matt also serves at the Science Olympiad and middle school track coach. As a teacher, Matt has focused on using technology to enable learners to explore, create, collaborate and communicate. Outside of school, Matt has been a co-organizer of TEDxNYED since 2011 and was selected by Google in 2012 to attend the Google Teacher Academy which is designed to help K-12 educational leaders get the most from innovative technologies. Matt holds a a degree in Economics from Boston University and is currently completing a M.A. at Teachers College, Columbia University towards certification as a K-12 Technology Specialist. David Malone is the technology teacher and coordinator at a private K-8 school in Piedmont, CA. He is a member of the East Bay, CUE board and serves on the technology committee for the Diocese of Oakland. David graduated from UC Berkeley and has a Master’s Degree in EdTech Leadership from CSU, East Bay. When he’s not working or playing with his two young daughters, he’s toying with technology and connecting with other passionate educators. David is thrilled to have been selected to attend the Google Teacher Academy in NYC this October.
